The following family stories are taken
from the Indian-Pioneer History Collection, Grant Foreman, editor.
The Collection is the fruit of Works Progress Administration Project
S-149 of 1937 and is housed in the Oklahoma Historical Society in
Oklahoma City. It consists of oral history interviews conducted by
researchers to secure for posterity the remembrances of long-time
residents of Indian Territory and Oklahoma. The selections appearing
here were chosen as representative of the many stories of removal that
are preserved in the oral tradition of Indian families.
